Daily reflections from God's Word

Luke 8:11-15 (NASB) "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
Hebrews 3:7-8a (NASB) Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS
Matthew 7:20-21 (NASB) So then, you will know them by their fruits. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Let us hear the word of God with a tender heart and produce fruit for God.

Luke 5:1 (NASB) Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;
Luke 5:4-5 (NASB) When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets."
Luke 5:6 (NASB) When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;
Listen to the Word of God. You may have all kinds of excuses for not obeying the Word of God but always obey. Miraculous things will happen.

Luke 4:4 (NASB) And Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE.'"
Job 23:12 (NASB) "I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
Luke 4:8 (NASB) Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"
Mark 12:29-30 (NASB) Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'"
Luke 4:12 (NASB) And Jesus answered and said to him, "It is said, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'"
1 John 4:1-2 (NASB) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Jesus's answers to Satan's temptations has something to say to us.

Job 14:1-2,5,14 (NASB) “Man, who is born of woman, Is short-lived and full of turmoil. “Like a flower he comes forth and withers. He also flees like a shadow and does not remain. “Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with You; And his limits You have set so that he cannot pass. “If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes.
Isaiah 40:6-8 (NASB) A voice says, “Call out.” Then he answered, “What shall I call out?” All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
Luke 1:78-79 (NASB) Because of the tender mercy of our God, With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Psalms 119:105 (NASB) Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Our time on Earth is short, make the most of it.

Luke 1:1-4 (NASB) Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.
Acts 17:10-13 (NASB) The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NASB) But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
Know the Truth. Search the Scriptures regarding what you are taught. Know for yourself that your beliefs are Scriptural.

Mark 15:9-10 (NASB) Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?" For he was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.
Galatians 5:26 (NASB) Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
James 3:14-16 (NASB) But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.
2 Corinthians 10:17 (NASB) But HE WHO BOASTS IS TO BOAST IN THE LORD.
2 Corinthians 11:2 (NASB) For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.
See what envy and jealousy do.

Mark 14:3-5 (NASB) While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head. But some were indignantly remarking to one another, "Why has this perfume been wasted? For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor." And they were scolding her.
John 12:4-5 (NASB) But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?"
Mark 14:10-11 (NASB) Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them. They were glad when they heard this, and promised to give him money. And he began seeking how to betray Him at an opportune time.
1 Timothy 6:10 (NASB) For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Hebrews 13:5 (NASB) Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
Some of the disciples, Judas, worshiped money more rather than God. Be content with what God has given you.

Genesis 40:12-14 (NASB) Then Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days; within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh's cup into his hand according to your former custom when you were his cupbearer. Only keep me in mind when it goes well with you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh and get me out of this house.
Genesis 40:23 (NASB) Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
We may be forgotten by man, but not forgotten by God. Read the whole story of Joseph in Egypt.

Mark 9:9-10 (NASB) As they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man rose from the dead. They seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead meant.
Mark 9:31-32 (NASB) For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later." But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him.
Job 5:8-9 (NASB) "But as for me, I would seek God, And I would place my cause before God; Who does great and unsearchable things, Wonders without number.
Proverbs 11:14 (NASB) Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.
The disciples had a question but they didn't ask Jesus to explain. If you have questions get your answers from Jesus, go to the Word of God. Ask someone your question but always make sure your answers are from the Word.

James 2:19 (NASB) You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
Mark 8:27-29 (NASB) Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, "Who do people say that I am?" They told Him, saying, "John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; but others, one of the prophets." And He continued by questioning them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ."
Mark 8:34-36 (NASB) And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?"
Romans 14:22a (NASB) The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God.
We all must answer this same question, "who is Jesus", but it takes more than to just acknowledge that He is the Christ. Believe and have a changed life.

Mark 7:20-23 (NASB) And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man."
Romans 7:24-25a (NASB) Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Psalms 119:9-10 (NASB) How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments.
Sin starts in the heart, before there is an overt act. Keep your mind pure.

Romans 15:5-6 (NASB)Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Genesis 35:1, 15 (NASB) Then God said to Jacob, "Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau." So Jacob named the place where God had spoken with him, Bethel.
Mark 6:54-55 (NASB) When they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to the place they heard He was.
John 1:1, 14 (NASB) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Go to the House of God, Bethel (where He dwells), and meet Him. Meet Him where He is. When I meet God great things can happen. Meet Him in His Word. John 1:1,14

Job 1:20-22 (NASB) Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD." Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.
Mark 4:15-17 (NASB) These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. In a similar way these are the ones on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy; and they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away.
Romans 5:1-5 (NASB) Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 10:17 (NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
How to respond properly to problems. You can only have this response through faith so you better start building your faith now. Faith bank. Our faith is a gift, it is built up by the Spirit of God through the difficulties that come to us. As we continue to trust, we are strengthening our faith that God takes care of us. Faith is believing God.

Genesis 33:20 (NASB) Then he erected there an altar and called it El-Elohe-Israel.
Mark 4:35-41 (NASB) On that day, when evening came, He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
Romans 4:3-5, 18a, 20-22 (NASB) For what does the Scripture say? "ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS." Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness. In hope against hope he believed. Yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Hebrews 11:1-3 (NASB) Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
This morning the Lord spoke to me about several things. El-Elohe Israel means God, God of Israel. Substitute my name for Israel's. He is my God! One of my favorite passages in the Gospels. When the storms come in my life, do I fear as the disciples? I want my faith strong enough that in the storm I am next to Jesus, in His arms. Faith is believing God's word. If He says something, believe it.

Ephesians 4:29 (NASB)Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Genesis 32:1, 7, 9-11, 30 (NASB)Now as Jacob went on his way, the angels of God met him. Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and the camels, into two companies; Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, 'Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will prosper you,' I am unworthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant; for with my staff only I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two companies. Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children." So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved."
God will meet with us as we go on our way. There is nothing wrong with fear and distress. It is what you do with that fear is what you need to think about. You do what you can but leave all to God. We can meet God face to face and talk to Him today through His Word. (See John chapter one)

Romans 2:4-6,10Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
1 Corinthians 3:13Each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
James 2:26 (NASB)For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
This is not a passage teaching "work your way to heaven". If your life has been truly given to God, you will have a changed life. Am I doing the same things as before I trusted Christ? You might ponder if your repentance was genuine.

Ephesians 5:1-2 (NASB)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Romans 1:16-17, 21-23For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Mark 1:2-3, 17-20 (NASB)As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY; THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.'" And Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.
God reveals Himself to man. What we do with that revelation is what determines our destiny. Will I turn to the Truth or turn away from it? Jesus calls the disciples to follow Him. Will I heed the call He has given me?

James 3:13 (NASB)Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.

Genesis 24:1 (NASB)Now Abraham was old, advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in every way.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Life is not always a bed of roses. Abraham had a tough life. God has blessed me in every way. I think about the deepest and darkest valleys in my life. God was there with me, holding my hand. When I was on the mountain top, I was the closest to heaven.

Psalm 119:71 (NASB)It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.
Experience might be a good teacher — but she charges a high tuition. Some lessons we only learn by walking through them: a failure, a loss, a hard season. Yet the psalmist shows us where experience truly profits: not when it just leaves us scarred, but when it presses us into God's Word. "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes." The wise don't wait for experience to teach them everything the hard way — they let every lesson drive them back to the Scriptures, where truth can be learned before the tuition is paid. Sometimes God uses the school of hard knocks to draw us close, but He has already written down what we need to know. Stay in His Word, and let your experiences confirm what He has already spoken.

Esther 4:14 (NASB)For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?
Queen Esther and the Jews were condemned to death. Esther had a position that she might change the king's edict. Sometimes God places us in a position to accomplish His will and plans and we may not even know it. Stay close to God and watch Him work.
